Eching, Germany, September 2006 – The Director II Universal HMI luminaire family has just grown by two! The new 1,200 W luminaires offer all the advantages of the existing 575 W models. They feature latest generation electronic ballast units, an innovation that enables the electronics to be easily integrated in the luminaire. Under normal operating conditions, the ballast unit operates without forced ventilation. In extreme atmospheric applications, however, a ventilator can be manually switched on to ensure adequate air flow.

The ballast unit operates with a frequency of 300 kHz. This results in a luminaire that is absolutely silent, and also provides flicker-free light that can be used for all kinds of production applications. Benefits provided by the ClearArc© technology used include an approximately 20 % longer lamp life and higher light output by
preventing deposits on the inside of the lamp bulb. The built-in ballast unit results in a compact and highly mobile luminaire that no longer requires a heavy extension.
The luminaires can also be optionally fitted with a DMX–interface with which they can be switched on or off, or dimmed from 100–50 %.

The Director II Universal HMI is available as either a fresnel lens luminaire or a PAR luminaire (including a lens kit), and in wattages of either 575 W or 1,200 W – making a total of four different versions on the market now.
