On the move with petty criminals: The Sachtler FSB 6 T

The production company Creativurge from Vienna comprising cinematographer Sebastian Leitner and director Louis-Jeremy Spiess has completed two new film projects, in which the Sachtler FSB 6 T / 2 D tripod system was used. For the making of "Echt Jetzt" (short film, 28 min.) and "Fladeranten Schau" (twelve-part short film series), the project team decided in favor of the Sachtler FSB 6 T fluid head because of its precise and smooth camera operation.

ON LOCATION IN VIENNA: ROBBERS AND ROMANCE

Narrow alleys, threatening shadows, a flourishing black market and dark figures on every corner: This is the picture of Vienna after the Second World War that is depicted in the film "Der dritte Mann". While not quite as dark, criminal energy also abounds in "Fladeranten Schau", a short film series also set in Vienna. In twelve short episodes, two petty criminals are filmed during their daily forays. In contrast, "Echt Jetzt" plays with the realistic and fictitious elements of a bizarrely staged love triangle. Most of the filming also took place in Vienna.

DSLR CAMERAS REQUIRE PROFESSIONAL FLUID HEADS

For the making of "Echt Jetzt", the JVC GY HD110 was used. Creativurge

chose the Canon EOS 7 D for "Fladeranten Schau". A professional fluid head was required to implement the smoothest and steadiest camera operation possible, particularly when filming with a light DSLR camera.

“In the end, we chose the Sachtler tripod system with a payload range of up to six kilograms. The fluid head enables very precise and smooth camera movements and the whole system is absolutely dependable and robust. That's exactly what we wanted,“ says Leitner.

The FSB 6 T / 2 D was used in the most diverse filming situations – indoor, outdoor, mounted on a dolly. "A convincing conceptual design combined with creative idea processing is very important to me," explains Leitner. "For the best possible cinematic implementation of the concepts, the tripod system was the right choice in every respect. Right after the first test, we became very attached to the FSB 6 T."

IMPRESSION

“A fluid head that enables smooth and steady movements is important, particularly when filming with light DSLR cameras. We were immediately attached to the Sachtler FSB 6 T after the first tests.“
