Argentina and Chile are the two countries where this year’s Dakar Rally took place. On January 18, approximately 500 vehicles finished in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, which was the race’s starting point. Among those who returned were the “DakarPress” press team who had been provided with Sachtler equipment, including the SOOM HiPod system, the 18 SL CF tripod system, the FSB 6 and FSB CELL, as well as the Reporter 8LED. Bikers, quad riders as well as car and truck teams participated in the 31st Dakar Rally in South America.

The 14 stages of the 9,500 km desert rally presented the drivers with extreme challenges. The members of the DakarPress team, including cameramen, photographers and journalists, worked under demanding conditions such as heat, dust and rough terrain – like everybody else. As soon as the drivers showed up, the equipment had to be ready. The functional SOOM proved to be the ideal tool, being easy to carry, versatile and extremely robust. The team also relied on the innovative FSB CELL that provided optimal power, the compact Reporter 8LED for proper lighting and the versatile FSB 6 for well-balanced pan-shots.
