The Vitec Group plc., Sachtler's parent company, has gained a new member: Litepanels, the market leader of the LED lighting systems. Litepanels offers an innovative range of LED lights for the TV, video and film industry.

A large factor in the decision to incorporate Litepanels into the Vitec Group is the energy efficiency of Litepanels' LED light technology. Compared to tungsten lights, in which nearly 95 percent of the power is lost to heat generation, only 50 percent of an LED light's energy is lost to heat. The energy savings from Litepanels LED fixtures is amplified by the need for less air conditioning on the stage. “Our goal is to bundle innovative and promising products within the Vitec Group. Our leading brands Sachtler (Reporter luminaires) and Anton/Bauer (Ultralight and ElightZ) will continue to develop their camera and location luminaire lines. With Litepanels we are now able to offer customers an extensive array of LED products,“ emphasises Joop Jansen, Chief Executive of the Vitec Group, Broadcast Systems Division at the IBC 2008.
