Sachtler, a Vitec Group Camera Dynamics brand, received the prestigious Product Innovation Award from The 4EVER Group at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention for its Reporter 8LED on-camera light fixture. The 4EVER Group represents the event videographers, and presents its awards in the interest of directing more vendor resources to the event video community.


In designing its Reporter 8LED light fixture, Sachtler placed special emphasis on durability, compactness and flexibility. The portable fixture provides all advantages of the latest LED technology: energy efficiency, the exceptionally long life of LEDs, extremely low failure rate and minimal heat generation.

Exchangeable LED module
A rigid splash-proof aluminium housing allows use of the Reporter 8LED in extreme shooting situations. The user can apply three different accessory sets to provide a wide range of light design solutions. The fixture can be used for example as a small location light by placing it on a stand or suspending it using grip equipment available in one of the optional accessory kits.

The Sachtler Reporter 8LED is available in a standard daylight version. However, an exchangeable LED module makes it a simple matter to convert the fixture to a tungsten light. Operators can also make quick, tool-free adjustments of the beam angle by replacing the lens module. The unit’s rotatable 4-leaf barndoor frame detaches easily through its quick-release mechanism, allowing for fast and easy lens changes.
